Eighth Graders.
Eighth graders have gone on so many adventures these past three years at Argyle Middle School. From staying overnight at Outdoor ed to jousters at Medieval Times. Next year all of the eighth graders are going to take a major leap from middle school to high school. A step that Argyle eighth graders are more than ready for. These past three years Argyle eighth graders have proven that they are intelligent, responsible and mature . How? Well out of 317 eighth graders 197 eighth graders made the honor roll and out of the 197 eighth graders 58 of those students had straight A’s. Awesome, right? That means that almost ⅔ of eighth grade students made it onto either the principal's list or honor roll. Eighth graders are ready to leave their mark at Argyle. How you may ask? In classes such as digital publishing/drama, computer art, advanced gaming and so much more. Students work together collaboratively in their classes to create projects. Projects that will always be remembered. Such as the first student made yearbook at Argyle which is being made by students in digital publishing. Argyle eighth graders are hard working and always get the job done. They never give up and are determined to go to high school and leave their mark.

Umm, What’s with all this legacy stuff?
Legacies. Leaving your mark. Being remembered. Making an impact. Making a change. Leaving your eternal footprint. What does it all really mean? Well, it isn’t something to take lightly. Though we say footprint, we don’t mean the muddy footprints you tracked in after soccer practice. No, the Argyle Yearbook Committee thinks on a deeper level. Legacies and leaving your mark: Argyle Middle School’s recently announced 2016-2017 school yearbook theme. The theme was selected fairly by the students themselves, and the educators of the class took the democratic approach and “let the people choose”. Every member was required to come up with an idea for a theme, and 5 were selected by Ms. Powell and Ms. Paull, the head teachers for the fifth period yearbook class. Once the top 5 were selected the students voted anonymously and Legacies: Leaving Your Mark won by more than 50% of the class. The votes were unanimous. Runner-up with about 30% of the votes was Constellations: Reaching Farther than The Stars, and in respect for their peers the identity behind the chosen-theme person still remains a mystery among a lot of the class. But still, what does that mean? Well, let’s see, what is a legacy? A legacy is something left behind, what you can be remembered by when you leave a place. This is also why the definition of a legend is an extremely famous or notorious person, whether it be for something good or bad. The AY Committee students and teachers are hoping to encourage people to start thinking about how they will leave their impact on Argyle. “It's important that students really begin to think about their legacies here at Argyle,” says Mr. Allrich, Argyle’s principal. “What their eternal footprint will be and what they'll leave behind.” Students and staff are hoping Argyle Middle School’s 2016-2017 yearbook can hold a piece of that footprint, that when you open it you can be reminded of your achievements. For many students, they still have 2 years to create their Argyle legacy, for others 1 and several are in their last year. Either way, you have or had 3 years to leave your mark. How will you be remembered? Maybe you'll be the best soccer player or the most talented musician. The greatest dancer or best public speaker. What's your legacy students? What will you be known for when you leave Argyle - how will you be a legend? You know your strengths and weaknesses, it's up to you to represent them. It's up to you to give Argyle the opportunity to see who you really are. What Argyle Yearbook students want to do is show the true colors of students all around the school, show how people can really leave their legacy. So it's up to you now. How can people remember you? Continue to ask yourself, if someone were to say your name to the entire school, what would be the replies? KDear students, what is your Argyle Legacy? |
